2006 Sony Handycam HDR SR1 Review 30GB Hard Drive

This is the Sony Handycam HDR SR1 video camera from 2006. This one still works perfect even though it is now 11 years old. This has a 30GB hard drive and 3.5 inch LCD screen.

  1. I bought mine when it came out in Japan…. have used mine for all 11 years, and (touchwood), it still works Great. All I would like now is to replace the hard-drive with an SSD.

  2. You seem to know your cameras well enough, Do you know if you can connect another sony video camera to the the HDR SR1 and record (transfer) from a casette TRV directly to the HDD? Is there a cable connection to input to the HDR SR1 ? Thanks for any info you can share and thanks for making this video it seems very thorough. I am looking at buying a used HDR SR1 but only if it can help me transfer my old Hi 8mm to the hard drive. Like you I have had video cams since the 70's but was disappointed in a few TRV models where the video would not play properly after only a couple of years. Anyway Cheers ! from Victoria BC Canada
